Irish Examiner: Microbreweries in Cork

Exciting times for craft beer lovers in Cork.

Joining Molson Coors’ Franciscan Well Brewery, Blacks Kinsale Craft Brewery and Eight Degrees Brewing, the Lynch family are now brewing at their Cotton Ball Pub in Mayfield, with the official launch taking place on 25 January. Their brewery consultant was masterbrewer Brendan Dobbin, who was involved with setting up Porterhouse and Burren Brewery.

Also coming on stream soon will be 9 White Deer Brewery in Ballyvourney and Baltimore’s West Cork Brewing Company.

Benny McCabe – owner of Mutton Lane, Sin É, Crane Lane, The Bodega, Arthur Maynes amongst others – is planning to develop a microbrewery called 7 Windows underneath TK Maxx in the Cornmarket Centre building.

The Peapod Café on Oliver Plunkett Street is also reported to have applied for planning permission to install a nano-brewery at its premises.

Looking forward to *testing* the offerings.
